Fluids, emulsions and pastes

Characteristics

POLSIL®  OM fluids are linear, non-reactive, unmodified polydimethylsiloxanes. They differ in their degree of polymerization and consequently in viscosity (Polsil®OM  100, for example, is a dimethicone of viscosity 100 mm2/s.) The Company  offer methylsilicone fluids produced in a range of viscosity: from 10 to 10000 cSt.

These fluids are characterized by a wide range of special properties including: resistance to low  and high temperatures as well as resistance to impact of atmospheric factors and numerous chemical factors.

Application

POLSIL®  OM are used as:

Release agents

A surface covered with methyl silicone fluids reflects anti-adhesive properties, while the thin layer of oil remaining on it is resistant to high temperature. Fluids may be sprayed both in the form of several-percent solution and non-diluted. In rubber processing also water emulsion of silicone fluids are used (Polsil E), which are easy to dilute and apply.

Lubricants

A layer of methyl silicone fluid applied on plastics, rubber, plastic threads cause friction decrease.

Hydraulic fluids

Thanks to the specific rheological characteristics, comparatively small change of viscosity in a broad range of temperatures, and considerable compressibility, methyl silicone fluids are used in hydraulic systems, in any type of vibration absorbers and dampers, end stops, etc.

Fluids to heat-exchangers

High heat resistance of silicone fluids makes it possible to use them as heating and cooling media in various types of constructions. In laboratory conditions they are applied in thermostats, heating baths, manometers and loop water seals. Silicone fluid is filled in the casings of temperature detectors, oil jackets of heating equipment, etc.

Liquid dielectrics

Perfect dielectric properties of silicone fluids enable their application in various types of electric equipment.

Antifoams

Silicone fluids are applied as antifoams suppressors in anhydrous systems that foam when heated in the presence of trace quantities of water. Also when foaming substances are filled in packaging, silicone fluids are added or the internal surfaces of the packaging are coated with thin layers of the fluids. In many cases perfect results are achieved by application of the silicone fluids water emulsions, being the typical antifoam agents in water systems.

Cosmetics additives

Thanks to the high aging resistance under the influence of weather conditions and resistance to micro-organisms and moulds, methyl silicone oils are perfect vehicles for various ointments and creams. Used as additives, they improve the properties of cosmetics or enhance the activity of various protective creams, etc.

Additives to pastes and polishes

Shoe polishes and floor polishes, car-body creams, polishes for furniture and artificial-skin upholstery polishes that include silicone fluids provide the surfaces with permanent shine, water-repellent properties and smooth touch.

Warranty period and storage: Polsil ®  fluids have a shelf life of at least 24 months from the date of manufacture if stored in the sealed, original containers in dry storage room  at temperature  up to 30°C.

Silicone emulsions POLSIL® E

Emulsions Polsil®E  are water emulsions of methylsilicone fluids have good surface moistening properties and are nonreactivechemically.

Areas of application of POLSIL® E silicone emulsions:

• industry: as releasing agents for moulds in foundry engineering and processing of plastics andrubbers and as additives to car cosmetics and household chemistry products,

• household applications: as agents for cleaning, glazing and preserving leather-like materials, rubberproducts and plastic products, ceramic tiles, lacquered surfaces, etc.

After water evaporation, on the surfaces coated with POLSIL® E emulsion, a thin layer of siliconefluid is created that gives the products coated the glossiness as well as hydrophobic and anti-adhesionproperties.

SILPASTA® offered by “Silikony Polskie is a methylsilicone oil thickened with proper fillers.

Silicone pastes are used as:

– releasing agents in thermoplastic and thermosetting plastics processing,

– electrical insulations,

– agents for lubricating connections during assembling of potable water pipelines made of PCV,

– lubricating and shock absorption agents,

– agents improving thermal conduction,

– in household applications as agents for preserving rubber seals, agents preserving products made of plastics, lubricating agents for friction elements.
